Addiction is a disease that affects a person for a lifetime, and no matter who you are or where you live, no one is immune to it. When someone has an addiction, the best way to save them from the problems that addiction can cause is to get them to acknowledge that they have a problem and need treatment. Only by going through addiction treatment can a person truly get clean and begin to live a life of sobriety. Even Malibu has its share of struggles with addiction, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a place to go to get help with your addiction if you or a loved one find that you are struggling.

Peninsula Health Center is here to help those in Malibu and the surrounding area with their addiction and help them get on the path to long-term sobriety. Today we are going to look at the addiction statistics in Malibu, the levels of care that are available for addiction treatment in Malibu, where to find a Malibu luxury drug rehab, the benefits of going to a Malibu drug rehab, and how Peninsula Health can help.

Addiction Statistics in Malibu

We already know that Malibu is not immune to the problems of addiction, but to understand what people in Malibu are going through, it helps to understand what sorts of problems people are facing and what drugs they are getting addicted to.

Malibu, like many other parts of the country, is facing the opioid epidemic. Opioids are a category of medication that provides pain relief to chronic and severe pain sufferers. Unfortunately, these medications are highly addictive, and people across America are becoming addicted, even without misusing the medication.

Among the different opioids that people are becoming addicted to, the most powerful is the synthetic opioid fentanyl. It was reported that 64,000 people overdosed last year, with fentanyl as the primary culprit.

Opioids aren’t the only medication that people are becoming addicted to. Many people misuse anxiety medications and other similar drugs in the category known as benzodiazepines. Benzodiazepines are widely prescribed to treat various disorders, from anxiety disorders to panic disorders and depression. These drugs are also highly addictive and can alter the brain chemistry to make people dependent on them.

Malibu is also fairly average in terms of addiction rates to alcohol and marijuana, with alcohol being the more significant concern for long-term health damage and risky behavior, especially among young adults.

If you think someone you know is addicted to alcohol or prescription medications like fentanyl, then now is the time to get them some help. Peninsula Health Center is always here when you need us.

What Levels of Care Are Available at a Malibu Rehab Center?

There is no absence of care for addiction in Malibu if you know where to look. In fact, there are multiple levels of care depending on the care needs of the individual.

There are two different levels of outpatient care for people with some control over their addictive behavior and who don’t have a problem or history of relapse.

Standard outpatient care allows clients to come to a treatment facility 2-3 times a week to receive treatment and then return home. There is minimal supervision overall, so this is a good choice for those who have their addiction under control but need the freedom to return home and handle daily life activities like work, school, or tending to children.

For those that need a bit more structure and support, there is the option of intensive outpatient care. This one requires clients to come to the treatment facility 4-5 times a week to get the care they need and the extra support to make sure that they stay on the path to sobriety.

Next, there is inpatient residential care. This type of treatment has different levels of care from a stay at a residential facility to partial hospitalization, and more. This type of treatment is for those with a history of relapse and need continuous support and supervision to maintain their sobriety and those with underlying health issues that their addiction may exacerbate. Stays can range from 30 to 90 days or even longer, and clients are given personalized treatment plans and support from medical staff.

If your loved one has tried and failed to beat their addiction, then Peninsula Health Center is here for you with the treatment options to make their recovery journey a successful one.
