levels of care

Glendale Outpatient Rehab Center: Levels of Care at Peninsula Health

Unlike residential inpatient treatment facilities, Peninsula Health’s substance abuse treatment programs allow clients to live off-site while receiving high-quality care and engaging in an extensive range of supportive treatment activities. However, each level of care we provide requires a different time commitment per week. Depending on whether a client is transitioning from a higher level of care or not, the severity of one’s addiction and mental health concerns, and other factors, one level of care might be better suited for an individual at this time in their journey than another.

If you’re not sure which level of care is right for you, our team can help. With that said, here are the levels of care our addiction treatment center near Glendale offers.

A partial hospitalization program (also called PHP or partial day program) is the most intensive care you’ll find at an outpatient Glendale drug and alcohol rehab center. At Peninsula Health, clients in our partial hospitalization programs will get the same amount of therapy and other treatments offered in a residential inpatient program but with the ability to live off-site during the program. Unlike our intensive outpatient and outpatient programs, PHP clients may participate in individual or group therapy sessions five days a week or more, engaging in treatment activities somewhere from 4-8 hours per day.

Intensive outpatient (IOP) is a step below partial hospitalization programs. This means that the time commitment and level of support in an IOP program are slightly lower. IOP clients at Peninsula Health Center typically attend group therapy and other treatments at our facilities for roughly twelve hours per week, distributed evenly over multiple days each week. The exact number of hours spent in treatment every week may vary based on a client’s needs.

IOP may be the right fit if you or your loved one looking for an outpatient Glendale drug and alcohol rehab center has a mild-to-moderate substance use disorder, minimal mental health concerns, a safe, supportive home environment, or if a client is stepping down from a higher level of care.

Outpatient treatment is the lowest level of care offered at Peninsula Health Center. Outpatient care is best suited for clients who need a lower level of support and more time at home. For example, those who need to continue working or taking care of their family while in treatment. The structure of our outpatient programs near Glendale allows clients to stay involved in their day-to-day life while participating in therapy on a pre-established schedule.

Typically, outpatient programs require that clients attend care 3-5 days per week for a set number of hours per day based on your or their treatment needs.

Aftercare planning is a crucial part of addiction treatment that should never go overlooked. Following Glendale alcohol addiction treatment or drug addiction treatment, local resources can help clients stay connected to a sober community and continue receiving support. We will help you connect with those resources as you prepare to exit your program at Peninsula Health Center. While everyone’s different, an aftercare plan will involve elements such as support groups and continued therapy most of the time.

Psychiatry, supportive housing, and help finding employment post-treatment are other examples of what you may discuss in aftercare planning.

What Sets Peninsula Health Apart From Other Addiction Treatment Centers?

We believe that all factors in a person’s life should be considered before, during, and after treatment. The special programs and features offered at Peninsula Health set us apart from other Glendale drug and alcohol rehab centers you may come across. Here are some of the programs and features we offer to clients who attend our programs.

“Dual diagnosis” refers to the presence of a substance use disorder and at least one other mental health condition. For example, anxiety disorders, depression, other mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). For many clients, dual diagnosis care is key. After all, people living with substance use disorders are at a higher risk for various other mental health conditions.

Our dual diagnosis treatment programs are created to address both substance abuse and the other mental health concerns a client faces to promote overall well-being and lasting recovery.

Using holistic medicine pairs with Peninsula Health’s goal of addressing the full spectrum of every unique client’s needs. In treatment settings, holistic care usually refers to alternative treatments and activities that can be used independently of or alongside Western medicine. Holistic or alternative treatments offered to clients at Peninsula Health include but aren’t limited to:

  • Acupuncture
  • Massage
  • Equine therapy
  • Meditation and mindfulness
  • Fitness

Research indicates that a combination of holistic treatments and traditional treatments can lead to better outcomes when addressing substance abuse and related (e.g., mental health) concerns.

If you are like most people, you are most likely familiar with traditional inpatient detox. At-home detox programs are an appropriate alternative for some, but not all, clients. Traditional detox programs refer to a level of care where clients go to a treatment facility to detox from drugs and alcohol in a supportive medical environment, typically for around 5-7 days.

While some of our clients attend an inpatient detox center prior to entering one of our treatment programs, Peninsula Health provides at-home supervised detoxification services for clients who experience milder symptoms during the withdrawal process.

Medication-assisted treatment, or MAT, is an FDA-approved treatment for some substance use disorders. Alongside therapies and supportive recreation activities, many clients benefit from using MAT. Our Glendale drug addiction rehab center helps clients in applicable situations access MAT.
