Our Addiction Treatment Center in Rolling Hills Estates, California

Peninsula Health Center is proud to offer partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, traditional outpatient programs, and virtual IOPs. The outpatient programs at Peninsula Health Center are designed around your individual needs. We work with you to create a primary treatment and aftercare plan based on your physical, psychological, and spiritual health. You can expect an outpatient program to last longer than residential programs, with some lasting for a year or more. Because outpatient programs are less intensive, participants may need additional time to meet their specific treatment goals.

Getting Help

Types of Treatment at Our Rolling Hills EstatesTreatment Center

Our drug rehab in Palos Verdes offers several different levels of care for substance use disorder and mental health treatment. Each “level” or type of care provides therapy at a different intensity level. It is essential to choose the level of care necessary to help you heal. The best choice is based on several factors unique to you, including the severity of your treatment needs, how long you have used drugs or alcohol, and the type of substance used.

Ambulatory/Outpatient Detox

When you are addicted to drugs or alcohol, detox is generally the first step toward achieving lasting sobriety. Healing and overcoming an addiction to certain substances can lead to unpleasant and sometimes overwhelming withdrawal symptoms. Even without severe detox symptoms, drug or alcohol withdrawal can be challenging, and seeking help from a detox program can improve your opportunities for achieving positive outcomes.

There are different types of detoxification programs. Ambulatory detox or outpatient detox is a non-residential detox option. This type of detox is considered a safe and effective option if you do not require medical or significant mental health interventions as part of your detox journey. Ambulatory detox is ideal for someone with mild to moderate withdrawal symptoms and a strong support structure to ensure you are not actively drinking or using while detoxing.

Partial Hospitalization

Partial hospitalization programs provide patients needing help overcoming addiction and mental health conditions a safe and supportive environment to get the therapy and guidance they need. PHPs offer high-intensity therapy without the overnight stay requirement associated with residential or inpatient treatment.

Peninsula Health Center’s Partial Hospitalization Program provides a range of mental health and addiction treatment options that mirror those you would expect from a residential mental health treatment program. Partial hospitalization programs use traditional, evidence-based therapy models like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and trauma-informed therapy combined with alternative treatment options to help patients achieve wellness from a holistic approach.

Intensive Outpatient

Intensive outpatient programs or IOPs share many similarities with residential or inpatient care options. At our IOP in the South Bay, you will receive the same comprehensive level of treatment available in an inpatient program with the structure and flexibility of an outpatient treatment program. Similar to a PHP, there is no residential component to care at an IOP.

IOP programs frequently serve as a stepping stone to outpatient care. The intensive outpatient program acts as a transitional step for someone who has recently completed a comprehensive treatment program designed to address their mental health needs that is still in need of continued support of the treatment environment.

An IOP is also an excellent treatment option for someone with mild to moderate addiction or mental health symptoms who has the benefit of a strong and supportive environment at home or in the community. Continued participation in therapy, especially after completing a formal treatment program, allows you time to practice and reinforce valuable coping skills learned during treatment. These tools are vital to ongoing symptom management and relapse prevention.

Outpatient

Outpatient programs offer the flexibility to seek help to address your treatment needs while remaining at home with your family. A significant benefit to outpatient treatment programs is that they allow you to maintain the necessary elements of your daily routine and obligations while attending therapy sessions at convenient times during the week. The number of sessions and the length of each session you are expected to attend will vary depending on the program’s intensity, your unique treatment needs, and your particular treatment goals.

Medication-Assisted Treatment

Medication-assisted treatment or MAT is the term used to describe using specific medications, combined with substance abuse counseling and therapy, to provide a whole-person approach to addiction treatment. The medications used as part of a medication-assisted treatment program are FDA-approved, and strict treatment guidelines (such as type of drug used and dosing) are tailored to meet each patient’s needs.

Dual-Diagnosis

When you struggle with dual diagnosis, you simultaneously have a substance abuse diagnosis and a mental health diagnosis. It can be difficult for medical and mental health professionals to know how to separate these conditions because both are often significantly intertwined and share similar root causes. Dual diagnosis conditions often share overlapping symptoms making treating one disease without acknowledging the other very difficult and ineffective. The best option for someone struggling with both an addiction and mental health concern is to choose a program at a dual diagnosis treatment facility where treatment professionals are trained to address the unique needs of co-occurring disorder treatment.

An Overview of Substance Abuse

Millions of Americans of all ages suffer from symptoms related to mental health and substance use disorders. A co-occurring disorder or dual-diagnosis condition occurs for approximately half of the people diagnosed with a substance use disorder (the term commonly used to describe drug or alcohol addiction). The safest way to begin your healing journey towards freedom from addiction and challenges with mental health symptoms is to seek help at a specialized treatment program where the staff is trained to help you manage your specific treatment and care needs.

While many treatment programs across the nation offer dual diagnosis care, not all treatment programs are equipped to manage all types of substance addiction or mental health diagnoses. Because successful treatment depends on choosing a program that can meet your care needs, it is crucial to research available program options to understand the available treatment options to help you recover.

There are many treatment options available in California. Each program strives to provide comprehensive addiction treatment care; however, many offer different levels of care to help you achieve your goals. With so many levels of care (intensive outpatient, outpatient, etc.), it can quickly become difficult and confusing to understand what “type” of care best fits your needs and goals. At Peninsula Health Center, we offer a range of treatment services designed to address the care needs of patients at all levels of treatment needs.
